NunAfterHours (or Nun), is a rising, American hip-hop/ pop music artist from Henderson, North Carolina. Nun has always displayed creative abilities. In grade school, she won numerous contests and awards in art and poetry.

Growing up as a preacher’s daughter in a small town and belonging to the LGBT community plays a significant part in Nun’s music. After her 2nd year of graduate school for counseling, Nun decided she wanted to pursue music. “I’ve always been interested in music and poetry. I used to write all of the time when I was growing up, but it was never anything serious. I didn’t actually go into studios to record myself, until late 2017. What made me want to record my first song...I was chillin’ with one of my friends one night, about a year and a half ago, and we were playing beats off of YouTube. I found this beat I liked and wrote a song to it, which is called “H&M”. Two weeks later, I got into the studio and recorded it. When the mastered track was sent a week later, I was like “Wow, that’s me?” I, then, became intrigued and inspired to do more music. I released “H&M” on my SoundCloud and received good feedback. After then, it was pretty much a wrap. I was in beast mode to write and record my debut mixtape. I would be at work writing music, sometimes 3-4 songs a day. Next thing I knew, I had a whole mixtape. It became addicting. I found my passion. Music became a release for me. A way for me to express myself in ways I never thought I could and in ways I've never imagined. Through my music, I can be the real me. Growing up sheltered in a religious household caused me to lose my identity, and I spent many years being trapped. I’m glad I decided to step out from behind the shadows and finally do something for myself. I’m taking my power back through music. I’m not afraid to be who I really am anymore, and I don’t care what anyone has to say about it. I’m bold, fearless, and strong. I’m ready to share more of myself with the world.”

Nun’s main musical influences include: Speaker Knockerz, Rae Sremmurd, Chris Brown, Kid Ink, Ty Dolla $ign, Tyga, and DJ Mustard. Nun released her first mixtape, “Metamorphosis”, in June 2018, which can be streamed on all digital music platforms. Her hit single, “Impeccable”, debuted on one of NC’s mainstream hip-hop/ R&B radio stations, K97.5, in August 2018. In May 2019, Carolina Music Awards listed Nun as a nominee for the Best Hip-Hop Female in the 2019 running. Also in May 2019, Nun’s 2nd single, “Hol’ Up”, made its debut on NC’s K97.5.

Nun’s high-energy performances consist of exciting the audience, fearlessly being herself on stage, and comical dance moves. With her free-spoken lyrics and unreserved personality, Nun gives a memorable impression.
